How to catch Ditto in Pokemon Go

The most important thing to know when trying to catch Ditto in Pokemon Go is that it will never appear as a Ditto on the overworld map. Instead, it will disguise itself as one of several other Pokemon so you won’t know it’s a Ditto until you’ve caught it.

This means the only way to get a Ditto is to look at its potential disguises in the table below and keep on catching every single one you see while you’re out exploring. You’ll need some patience, but eventually, one of them should reveal itself to be a Ditto.

During certain limited-time events like the Let’s Go! event in March 2023 there will be a boost in Ditto spawns on the map, so these are ideal times to try and catch one. Using the Nearby future can help you locate potential Ditto disguises on the map.
